What's It For?

What is this website for? Why, the possibilities are endless!

Here is one example. Take a possibility. Then go into a room with mirrors on opposite walls. Standing slightly off-center, hold the possibility up to the mirror. With the reflection from the mirror on the opposite side, it will look endless.

Okay, we got that little aside out of way.

Now, the first thing you will think of, and possibly the last, is ringtones. By clicking the appropriate button as the clip is playing, you can download it to your phone. From there, you can add it as a ringtone - implementation details are left to the reader.

It gets even more interesting if you can set it as a ringtone on your friend's or family member's phone. They will be sure to appreciate your fine taste. While you are at it, set an alarm to ring with the ringtone at 2:30am. A friend once did this on my behalf, but it was with my alarm clock - they didn't have cell phones in those days.

Some people, myself included on certain days, just like to turn on autoplay and have HSTC serve as background music for whatever else they are doing. I can't vouch for this, because I have never actually seen someone listening to the HSTC clips unless I am demo'ing it for them. But no one has yet disproved this theory.

(Note: At some point, autoplay stops working on my phone. I find that by clicking randomly on some of the buttons, it starts up again. That's why it is sometimes better to do autoplay for background music from the browser on a computer.)

In truth, ringtones and background music are only part of the universe of uses you can produce with the fruit of Hilbert Sounds The Cube. And why? Because you can download them without having to resort to things like recording the sound from the speakers with your phone. That means you can combine two or more clips together! You can do this with a digital audio workstation (DAW) if you have the software and know-how, or even with a Python script making use of packages like pydub and pygame. There are examples in our Gallery below.

Not only that, but did you notice you can also download the MIDI files that are used to generate the MP3s? This means, that if you have the software and know-how, you can import them into your DAW and go crazy. Check them out in the Gallery.

(And by the way, I have done all my DAW work with LMMS, which is available for free.)
